MISSISSIPPI RIVER TRAVELER

2 - 15 May, 2009

Originates in Kansas City and concludes in New Orleans.  Optional Amtrak package provides rail travel from Los Angeles and return, departing 1 May and returning 17 May.  We start with a three day pre-cruise visit to eastern Missouri featuring Walt Disney's hometown of Marceline, the Amish farms near La Plata, Winston Churchill's memorial to the Cold War at Fulton, and St. Charles, Missouri's first capital.  At St. Louis, we board River Barge Excursion Lines' River Explorer for a 1134 mile, 10 night cruise on the lower Mississippi River to where it meets the Gulf of Mexico, at mile 0.   We then return upriver to New Orleans, where our cruise concludes on 15 May.

Highlights:

• Ports of call include Cape Girardeau and Caruthersville, Missouri; Memphis, Tennessee; Natchez, Mississippi; Head of Passes & Ft. Jackson, and New Orleans, Louisiana.  Complimentary shore tours are included at each location.

• Enjoy travel on the American Flag River Explorer, with an American crew.  Launched in 1998,   Enjoy great river views from the Guest Pilot House lounge which provides the same view of the river as seen by our Captain and River Pilot.

• Staterooms have two twin beds or one queen bed, ensuite toilet and shower, large openable picture window, individually controlled air conditioning, TV/VCR/ mini-fridge, coffee maker and binoculars.  Platinum Deck staterooms also have private balcony.

Fare from $3795 per person, based on double occupancy.  Platinum Deck add $250 per person.  Single occupancy stateroom and hotels $4695.

For reservations made prior to 30 June, receive a $100 per person early bird discount and $50 onboard credit.
