to

4 March, 2010

Originates in Los Angeles.  Take a mid-winter circle rail excursion through Arizona, New Mexico and the southern Colorado Rockies.

Highlights:

• Narrow gauge steam through the Animas Canyon in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado on the Durango & Silverton Railroad

• Two excursions on former Denver & Rio Grande Western lines, now operated by the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad.    Using Alamosa as our base, a full day excursion takes us east through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains over La Veta Pass.  Our second excursion takes us west on the former Creede branch to the town of Monte Vista.  Both excursions feature luxury travel aboard a former Santa Fe full length dome car.

• Arizona Eastern Railroad's Copper Spike Express from Globe, Arizona.

• New Mexico Rail Runner from Santa Fe to Belen

• Amtrak's Sunset Limited over Beaumont Pass and through the Coachella Valley.

• A full day in historic Santa Fe, with two nights at the luxurious Inn on the Alameda, just a short walk from the Plaza.

• Visit Zuni Pueblo

• Return to Los Angeles from Albuquerque aboard Amtrak's Southwest Chief traveling Santa Fe's busy Transcon main line.

Fares from $1295-$1745 per person from Southern California, based on double occupancy and type of train accommodation selected.  Single occupancy of hotels is available at $195 additional.
